These Are Just a Few Questions That We Hear Frequently.
Q: I was approached by someone who said that they were a "licensed Arborist." Is there such a thing as a licensed Arborist?
A: Yes, In Maine there is a test that can be taken to become a Licensed Arborist but it is not the same thing as an ISA Certified Arborist. However, there are those out there who will try to confuse people by using terms that are strikingly similar, but don't be fooled! The only title recognized by the ISA is a Certified Arborist.
Q: Do I need to get a permit before removing trees from my yard even if they're dead?
A: Sometimes you do. It's best to consult with a professional Certified Arborist to help determine whether a permit is required Though it may seem unnecessary, it is always best to contact the city or county that you live in before removing any tree. The penalties can be very severe if trees are removed without properly approved permits.
Q: My neighbor's tree is sending limbs over the fence and into my yard. Is there anything I can do about it?
A: Yes there is. Though the tree originates in your neighbor's yard, you are not only allowed to properly maintain it, you are responsible for the maintenance of the portion of the tree that is over your property.
